The People Have Spoken And They Want SSX Tricky To Be Re-Released

Forget Fortnite, forget FIFA 19, forget God of War, forget literally every game ever made when considering the best ever because we all know it’s actually EA Big’s snowboarding masterpiece SSX Tricky!

Seventeen years on from its original release, it seems it is time for SSX Tricky to kickflip itself from the powder of our memories and onto the main piste of modern day gaming platforms, as fans take to social media to demand its return.

For those of you who are desperately confused here, let us explain. SSX Tricky is not an early noughties D-List rapper – it’s a now-legendary snowboarding video game, originally launched on PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox.

As the second game of the SSX series, it garnered a cult following in large part due to its soundtrack, which featured – surprise surprise – ‘It’s Tricky’ by Run-DMC.

The addition of ‘Uber moves’ also boosted the popularity of the game, with boarders pulling off elaborate mid-air tricks in order to earn boosts, which subsequently allowed players to perform even more ‘Uber moves’.

For those who have never played, it may be difficult to grasp why the game was so popular, in the same way that it could be difficult to grasp your board when performing a backside 180 nose grab.

But for fans, it’s clear to see that the game is long overdue a revival, as they’ve taken to Twitter in their droves to reminisce over the good times and plead for its return.

One user said: “Would well be on it, think it would ruin my life!”

Another seconded the sentiment, saying: “Played it from 7.30pm until 8am the next day just to beat a high-score!”

However, there appears to be a lack of consensus over whether the game should be fully brought into the modern day and age with all the very best graphics that gaming technology has to offer, or whether a reincarnation should stay faithful to the original.

One person tweeted: I don’t even want a graphical upgrade or new courses, I just want to be able to play it on my PS4 and re-live the glory days.”

Another made it clear to prospective developers it would be worth their while, simply writing: “If anyone remakes this I’ll give them money!”

But one user seemed too impatient to wait altogether, saying: “Don’t get me started. Might buy a PS2 and get this on eBay.”

Whether or not a modern day manifestation of the game emerges remains to be seen, but worse comes to worst, meteorologists have forecast an early winter in the UK – so perhaps we’ll have to grab a board and see just how tricky it really is.
