Ronda Rousey almost lost her finger after a boat door fell on her hand during the first day of shooting for TV show 9-1-1.
The former MMA-fighter-turned WWE wrestler has rocketed up the charts and has endured some pretty brutal blows in and out of the cage/ring.
However, it seems like Rousey has suffered her most brutal injury to date while filming a drama series for the FOX network.

“So the word is out I nearly lost my finger shooting 9-1-1,” Rousey wrote on Instagram.
“Freak accident, first take of the day a boat door fell on my hand, I thought I just jammed my fingers so I finished the take before looking (I know sounds crazy, but I’m used to live audiences and never showing pain unless I’m supposed to) after a break in the action I told our director the situation and was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where they promptly reattached my bone and tendon with a plate and screws.
“I returned to filming the next day and finished my scenes before returning home to recover. Modern medicine amazes me, I already had 50% range of motion back in 3 days.”
Her post has been flooded with more than 16,000 comments from people wishing her a speedy recovery.
One Instagram user wrote: “It took THIS to humble you!!!”
Imagine being thrown around a ring for a couple of years, being smacked, thrown, kicked and pulled and sustaining only a few bruises to then coming up against a bloody boat door and nearly have your finger ripped clean off.
Hopefully the injury won’t impact her WWE career however by the sounds of things her finger should be back into working order in no time.
The series Rousey is shooting follows the lives of first responders living in Los Angeles like police officers, paramedics, firefighters and dispatchers.
Rousey signed on for season three of the show for a character named Lena Bosko.
The show has received a decent rating after two seasons, with Rotten Tomatoes listing it on 70 per cent. The critical consensus reads: “9-1-1 occasionally veers into melodrama, but is redeemed with a top-tier cast, adrenaline-pumping action, and a dash of trashy camp that pushes the show into addictive guilty pleasure territory.”
It’s not yet known what her character’s background is or how much she’ll impact the show, but here’s hoping she injects some of that classic Rousey attitude to keep the audiences entertained.
