Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier is reportedly close to joining Atletico Madrid in a transfer worth up to £25 million.
Trippier, 28, has been subject to intense transfer speculation this summer. He’s been strongly linked with a move away from England with the likes of Bayern Munich, Napoli and Juventus all keen on acquiring his services.
And latest reports suggest the England international will secure a transfer away from Tottenham by moving to Atletico Madrid.
Talks are progressing well between the two clubs in view to a £25 million transfer. He joined Spurs in 2015 for £3.5 million from Burnley.
Trippier has enjoyed four seasons in North London. He’s played 69 Premier League games for Spurs while scoring two goals.
Tottenham travel to Singapore on Wednesday for the club’s pre-season tour but Trippier could be excused from flying to Asia so he can complete his transfer to Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish club, meanwhile, have been in a market for a new right-back to replace Juanfran, who left at the end of last season, and it appears they’ll fill the void by signing Trippier.
Tottenham, on the other hand, will likely start with Serge Aurier at right-back with Kyle Walker-Peters providing cover.
