Diego Maradona Demanded Private Jet For New Job Managing Mexican Club

Wherever he goes Diego Maradona he creates headlines for one reason or another and now he’s manager of Mexican second division side Dorados that’s unlikely to change, starting with his demands.

Diego Maradona is a writer’s dream. Renowned throughout the world for being one of the best footballers to have ever lived he’s also well known for his ‘Hand of god’ goal in the 1986 World Cup and being banned from football after failing a drugs test in the 94 tournament.

Since retiring the stories about the Argentina legend have not let up. In the World Cup in the summer he was everywhere and made headlines for making a racist gesture at South Korean fans and swearing at Nigeria fans as Argentina scored their winning goal. Standard Diego.

And it hasn’t stopped since then with the former Napoli forward taking a role as chairman of Belarus side Dinamo Brest. Admittedly nothing too crazy apart from the appointment itself which seems to make no sense whatsoever.

Now, despite his previous poor record as a manager, someone has taken the risk of appointing him manager with his new job in Mexico with second division side Dorados.

According to Infobae, which sounds like your girlfriend’s blog, before signing the deal to be their boss Maradona demanded that the team get private jets to their away games rather than travelling on economy class flights.

The same reports say that the club have rented out a luxury ranch, complete with a swimming pool, in a gated community for their new manager, close to the training ground.

The residents though had a different idea and have blocked the moving trucks from getting into the community as a protest for the 57 year old moving in, not sure I can blame them personally.

Unfortunately for Maradona he’s now got to borrow a trick from Jose Mourinho and stay in a four star hotel instead, I think he’ll survive.

Maradona has signed an 11 month deal for his new team but that will be extended if he manages to get them promoted, although they are winless in their opening six games.
