Conor McGregor has said he would give Nate Diaz a rematch to complete what would become one of the greatest trilogy fights ever.
He might be going head-to-head with Khabib Nurmagomedov in arguably the biggest MMA fight in recent history, but the Irishman has clearly got his sights set on a potential bout with Diaz, who defeated him in the first bout at UFC 196.
“I’ve got that trilogy with Diaz. I will give that man that rematch. He gave me a rematch. I will give him a rematch.” McGregor said.
MAKE IT HAPPEN, UFC!
In 2016, McGregor met Diaz at UFC 196 and the American was victorious by submission with 48 seconds left in the second round.
Five months later at UFC 202, ‘Notorious’ won by decision in one of the fights of the year, but the question remains – who will be McGregor’s next opponent?
It was reported last year that the trilogy would apparently take place in Las Vegas, a perfect way to end a spectacular trio of bouts, via The Independent.
Despite being just days away from the Khabib fight, McGregor is ‘already mapping out’ what he wants to do next.
He’s got his eyes on potential opponents including a trilogy bout versus Nate Diaz, as mentioned previously, whilst also weighing in on UFC 229 co-main event; Anthony Pettis vs. Tony Ferguson.
“I’ve been already mapping out what I want to do next,” he told The Mac Life.
McGregor added: “I know there’s Pettis and Ferguson is in the co-main. Originally a month or two ago when that was announced as co-main I was like ‘man, if Khabib bottles this fight like he has bottled many fights before, if he bottles this one… I don’t think I give a f**k about those other two, no disrespect to those other two.
“I don’t give a fuck about those other two to step in, I think I probably would have just disappeared back into the shadows and got that man somewhere else.”
Who wants to see Conor McGregor vs Nate Diaz? Yeah, me too.
