Andy Ruiz Jr ‘Agrees In Principle’ To Face Anthony Joshua In Saudi Arabia

Andy Ruiz Jr has agreed in principle to fight Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia for their blockbuster rematch.

The unified heavyweight king has finally agreed to terms to face Joshua in the Middle East after receiving a new financial package.

The Mexican-American was set to earn a guaranteed $9 million to face Joshua, but he’s now in line to pocket a “millions more” after successfully striking terms with promoter Eddie Hearn.

Joshua, meanwhile, lost the heavyweight titles on his American debut back in June and he’s adamant that Ruiz Jr caught him with a “lucky” punch.

“By a lucky punch. By a punch sent by the gods,” he told Sky Sports.

He added: “I don’t know what concussion is, but for sure, after the fight I didn’t know what round [the fight was stopped].

“So I’m just shocked it took Ruiz Jr another four rounds to get me out. Let me concuss, Ruiz Jr — he won’t get back up.

“Ruiz Jr got hit by a flash knockdown — he was still raw, he wasn’t well-done, he wasn’t cooked yet. I should have left him a little bit longer.

“But the instinct in me was: ‘Boom!’ I ended up getting caught with a left hook on the top of the head. He ain’t that skillful. He’s a good fighter.”
