Real Madrid Have Had A €90m Bid Rejected For Sergio Ramos’ Replacement

Real Madrid are reportedly preparing for life without Sergio Ramos after it has emerged that the Spanish club have had a €90m bid rejected for his replacement.

It had recently emerged that the 33-year-old Madrid captain is thinking about leaving the club in the summer, which has put the reigning Champions League holders in a tricky position.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia), Madrid made an approach for Kalidou Koulibaly and Napoli have turned down the €90m bid tabled for him.

Manchester United have been linked with the 27-year-old Senegalese centre-back and have previously had a €90m bid rejected for him.

In fact, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed back in December that the club had turned down the offer from the Red Devils for their world-class defender.

“[José] Mourinho wanted him, we rejected £95 million,” he told the press at an event hosted by Corriere del Mezzogiorno.

Koulibaly has a contract that runs with Napoli until 2023 and the Italian club are holding out for a much higher.

The former Genk star does have a €150m release clause, but it only becomes active from the summer of 2020.

Zinedine Zidane is expected to splash big this summer as he prepares to overhaul his squad, but the departure of Ramos would be a big blow to his side.

Paris Saint-Germain, United and even Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Spain captain, who made 42 appearances for Madrid across all competitions this season and scored an impressive 11 times.

Ramos signed for Madrid back in 2005 and has made over 400 appearances during his 14-year stint at the club.

The Madrid star has also won multiple trophies during his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, including four La Ligas, two Copa del Reys, three Supercopa de España and four Champions Leagues.

Should Madrid return with a bigger offer for Koulibaly?
