Crystal Palace and Chelsea have rubbed salt into the wounds of Manchester United by mocking them for their tweet about the Blues.
The Red Devils initially tweeted out the wrong hashtag in building up their pre-match hype for Crystal Palace against United at Old Trafford.
The Twitter account used ‘#MUNCHE’ instead of ‘#MUNCRY,’ but United replied to their initial tweet with a dig at Chelsea.
United tweeted: “Wish we were playing Chelsea again, though…”
The Eagles, who defeated United for the first time in the Premier League, couldn’t help but take full advantage of their triumph by hilariously mocking the Red Devils.
Crystal Palace tweeted: “We’re sure you do… *#MUNCRY.”
Just when it seemed United might be let off lightly with the trolling, Chelsea’s Twitter account decided to take a quick swipe at them for their initial dig.
Chelsea tweeted: “How’d it go?”
Roy Hodgson’s men stunned United in the first half when they took the lead through Jordan Ayew.
And the Red Devils continued to push for an equaliser and had a brilliant opportunity to do so after being awarded a penalty.
However, Marcus Rashford stepped up and failed to convert from the spot-kick.
Daniel James scored late on to hand United the chance to walk away with a point, but that was undone after David de Gea’s howler handed Patrick van Aanholt the winner for his side.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke about United’s problems with penalties, though fans were not impressed with him calling for his side to push for more penalty chances.
The Red Devils will resume their Premier League campaign next Saturday against Southampton.
Will United finish in the top four this season?
