Is another Chinese Super League star on his way to Barcelona?!
Barcelona snapped up ex-Spurs midfielder Paulinho in 2017 following a prolific spell at Guangzhou Evergrande. Though, surprisingly, he left the club after just one season returning to China.
But Barcelona could be securing the services of yet another Chinese Super League player in the shape of Odion Ighalo.
Yes, THAT Odion Ighalo.
According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the La Liga club are keeping tabs on a ‘low-cost’ No.9 as cover for Luis Suarez ahead of the second half of the season.
And Ighalo is an option. The Nigeria international is attracting plenty of interest with a few clubs eyeing him up including Premier League side Southampton.
Ighalo, who enjoyed three seasons in England with Watford, is keen on returning to these shores but, of course, Barcelona is the most attractive proposition.
Ighalo left Watford for Changchun Yatai in January 2017 in a transfer worth a reported £20 million.
He produced in Asia, scoring 15 league goals in 2017 then an impressive 21 league goals in 2018.
The 29-year-old now has a few options on the table to return to Europe.
As well as Ighalo, Barcelona are also reportedly looking at Chelsea’s out-of-favour Alvaro Morata, who appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.
Alvaro Morata signed for Chelsea in 2017 for £60 million, and it’s fair to say he’s flopped.
Among the other January-striker-merry-go-round, Chelsea want Gonzalo Higuain and China’s top flight could welcome West Ham United’s Marko Arnautovic.
