Artem Dzyuba Went To Great Lengths To Exact Revenge On Roberto Mancini

Artem Dzyuba went to great lengths to prove that Roberto Mancini was wrong for not fancying him.

The Russian international has been with Zenit St Petersburg since 2015 but was not fancied by Mancini this season and was reduced to a bit-part role as a result.

He was then sent out on loan to Arsenal Tula, who were Zenit’s opponents this weekend.

The common rule across football in regards to loans is that normally the player cannot play against his parent club, yet Dzyuba was so desperate to do so that he reportedly agreed to pay half of the €150,000 fee needed in order to play because of a clause in his deal.

And boy did he make the most of the opportunity. As well as registering an assist, the 29-year old scored a dramatic 88th minute equaliser to make the score 3-3 – promptly celebrating right in front of Mancini, pointing to the shirt on his back to rub salt in the wounds.

That’s how you get one over your former boss, and parent club!

Speaking after the game, however, Mancini wasn’t bitter about it and said he was pleased for the former Spartak Moscow man.

“I don’t regret that I broke up with Dzyuba for a while. I don’t feel anything like this,” he told NTV.

“I’m happy for him, I’m pleased with the way he’s been playing for Arsenal.”
